The Flour Bluff girls win triple OT thriller over G-P. The Miller boys get a key win over Carroll. London’s Sean Armstrong reaches 400 wins.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was an electric night of basketball in District 29-5A with the playoffs just over a week away for the girls and just over two weeks away for the boys.
The Flour Bluff girls needed three overtimes to beat Gregory-Portland 58-56 in a game with major seeding implications. The Hornets clinched the one seed heading into the 5A-DI bracket and can take the district championship outright with a win over King Tuesday. G-P settles for the fourth spot in the district and the two seed in the 5A-D2 bracket.
The Miller boys won an exciting game over Carroll 72-56 in what was a must-win for the Buccaneers. The Bucs now lead the Tigers by a half game for the final playoff spot with the teams splitting the season series. The remaining schedules are relatively even, so a potential win or go home tiebreaker could be looming.Â
London Boys Basketball Head Coach Sean Armstrong had a big night as well, as he reached career win #400 as his Pirates laid it on Taft 100-39. Armstrong came over after stops at Gregory-Portland and King and now has London ranked #3 in Class 3A and 32-1 on the season.Â
