Area Girls Prep Basketball Report for Saturday, Feb. 7
Hahnville snapped a 5-game losing streak with a 61-51 victory at home over Thibodaux in District 8-5A play Friday night.
The game was tied 10-10 after one quarter before Hahnville took a 31-26 halftime lead. It was 44-39 heading to the fourth quarter when Thibodaux rallied to tie it at 49-49, forcing overtime.
Hahnville dominated the extra period, outscoring Thibodaux 12-2 for the win.
Senior A’kjha Kenner and freshman Demi Mitchell led Hahnville with 19 points each while senior Paige Friloux scored nine points.
Both teams return to district play next Tuesday.
Hahnville (11-14, 1-3) will play at Central Lafourche while Thibodaux (9-16, 2-3) will play at H.L. Bourgeois.
