Syracuse, N.Y. – Former Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim has signed a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

For Boeheim, 26, it was a promotion.

He had been playing for the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League. A two-way contract allows him to shift between the NBA team and the G League team.

The Thunder had room on its roster after two-way guard Chris Youngblood exhausted the days he could wear an NBA uniform (50) on a two-way contract. Youngblood, in limited duties, was averaging 2 points on 31% shooting from the 3-point line.

Boeheim is eligible to play in 19 NBA games this season.

The former Syracuse star played nine games with the Oklahoma City Blue this season and averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.22 steals in 30.4 minutes per game. He was shooting 35% from the 3-point line. He has been limited by a thumb injury on his shooting hand and subsequent surgery he had last spring.

Boeheim opted to return to Oklahoma City this year. He respects the organization and believed it to be a good spot for him.
