The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Houston Rockets on Saturday. This will be the third matchup of the season between the two squads. OKC has won the first two, with its latest victory happening on Jan. 15.

The Thunder (40-12) continue their journey without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They punted to the San Antonio Spurs in a 116-106 loss on Wednesday amid the NBA trade deadline hoopla. Kenrich Williams scored 25 points and Jaylin Williams scored 24 points.

Meanwhile, the Rockets (31-19) are surrounded by bad vibes. They had a 109-99 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday. Kevin Durant had 31 points, but nobody else really showed up.

Half: Thunder 52, Rockets 46

The Thunder couldn’t close out well. Their offense dried up as it became more stagnant. The Rockets got back into it. Holmgren has at least stepped up with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He’s been aggressive. Durant and Sengun have been relatively quiet from Houston’s side.

Hartenstein blocks Sheppard on one end. The Thunder run out on the other. Joe throws Wallace the alley-oop. Rockets call a timeout.

End 1Q: Thunder 28, Rockets 28

Pretty good opening quarter, all things considered. The Thunder relied on ball movement instead of dynamic isolation scoring to get their buckets. The defense also stepped up as the Rockets turned it over for transition opportunities. McCain also checked in for his OKC debut.

1Q, 7:53 left: Rockets 15, Thunder 9

Holmgren loses control of his dribble and turns it over. Eason gets the fastbreak layup. Thunder call a timeout. Going to be interesting to see how they duct-tape scoring possessions.

Starting lineups

The Thunder will start Cason Wallace, Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. The Rockets will start Amen Thompson, Reed Sheppard, Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith. Jr and Alperen Sengun.
