The New Orleans Pelicans hope to avoid losing three in a row and four of their last five when they travel to take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. While it seems like an era in Milwaukee is over, with the Bucks looking to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline, the team ended a five-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Bulls. Ironically, Chicago is a big rumored destination for the Greek Freak. Before that win against Chicago, Milwaukee was in free fall, losing eight of its last nine games. It hasn’t helped the Bucks’ case that Antetokounmpo has been out since Jan. 23 with a strained right calf. This may be a rare occasion for Milwaukee to win back-to-back games, though, as New Orleans has won only five games on the road all season. This is the first matchup of a two-game season series between the Pelicans and Bucks, with the finale coming Feb. 20 in New Orleans. Despite having the second-worst record in the league, the Pelicans are a 4.5-point road favorite tonight.

Milwaukee is coming off a 131-115 victory over Chicago on Tuesday, with Kyle Kuzma going off, matching a season-high 31 points. Both teams were shorthanded, but the Bucks were the ones to have an incredible shooting night to end their five-game losing streak. Milwaukee shot 52 percent from the field and 61 percent from three, making a season-high 23 three-pointers. Kuzma continued his great game with 10 rebounds and six assists. Ryan Rollins added 21 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. Milwaukee improved to just 4-15 without Antetokounmpo in the lineup this season.
The Pelicans are coming off their second straight loss, 102-95 on Monday. The Pelicans lost the game despite leading by 22 points. LaMelo Ball had a head-to-head collision early in the game with coach Charles Lee of all people, but that didn’t slow him down, as the Hornets star scored a team-high 24 points. The win tied the season series against the Pelicans in the finale, and it was the Hornets’ seventh victory in a row. The loss for the Pelicans overshadowed a great game for Trey Murphy III, who scored a game-high 27 points, while Zion Williamson added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
