The trade deadline can be a tough day for everybody in the NBA. It’s a day where a team has to make the right decision it feels is best for its future. The Philadelphia 76ers made a move at the deadline to trade Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a first-round pick as well as three second-rounders as he continues to move forward in his career.

McCain was a beloved player in Philadelphia’s locker room and his teammates have opened up on their emotions and love for the young guard after the trade. Even Kyle Lowry, who hopped on Amazon on Prime’s NBA coverage, gave his thoughts on McCain as he wished him luck:

It’s a tough situation. Especially, because Jared is one of the most lovable guys out there. The trade deadline sucks for individuals like him because he’s an asset and we got four picks for him. I told him basically, like ‘Listen, a team is willing to give up that much for you. That means you’re worth something.’ And we talked about it yesterday on the plane. It’s just him. He’s always laughing. He’s always joking. He does TikToks when we’re not looking and post them. He’s a great kid, so internally, we’re dealing with it. We understand the business of basketball. So, for me, personally, I told him, ‘I’m big brother no matter what. No matter what team, what uniform you have on, what city you’re in, give me call,’ and I think we have such a tight-knit crew that we’ll still be in touch with him, and I know he’s looking forward to seeing us whenever they come into town.

Lowry and the Sixers will welcome McCain and the Thunder to the Xfinity Mobile Arena on March 23.
