With their win Saturday night, the Charlotte Hornets have now reached nine consecutive victories, their second-longest streak in franchise history.

Their longest winning streak of 10 games dates back to the 1999-2000 season.
Considering it’s been a while since the Hornets enjoyed this type of success, here is a comparison of Charlotte’s two historic squads.
For starters, the 1999-2000 Hornets made the playoffs with a 49-33 record, but lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
As for the current Hornets, Charlotte is 25-28 and 10th in the Eastern Conference, holding on to the final Play-In tournament spot.

In the 1999-2000 season, the Hornets ranked 14th in the league in points per game, averaging 98.4 per contest. Ironically, the Hornets also rank 14th in the league today, averaging 116 points per game.
During the 1999-2000 season, the Hornets ran out a starting five of David Wesley, Eddie Jones, Anthony Mason, Derrick Coleman and Elden Campbell. Of the five, Jones was Charlotte’s only All-Star, averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and a whopping 2.7 steals which led the league.
As for today’s Hornets, Charlotte starts LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and now Moussa Diabate who took the starting role from rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner. Just like the 1999-2000 team, Charlotte has only one scorer averaging over 20 points, Miller with 20.4. Miller however did not make the All-Star team this season.

With 29 games remaining, the Hornets will be hopeful to make the playoffs as the 1999-2000 team did, but improve on their mark by advancing beyond the first round.
