Things got chippy on Saturday night between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns as both teams exchanged words throughout the night. Of course, the Suns are led by Dillon Brooks who is affectionately nicknamed “Dillon the Villain” due to the mind games he likes to play on his opponents.
The Sixers were able to play through all of the antics the Suns tried to use on them to prevail 109-103 on the night, but there were some words exchanged between Phoenix star Devin Booker and Sixers star Joel Embiid leading to both being called for double technical fouls heading into halftime.
Afterward, Booker told reporters in Phoenix:
I told him he’s too good a player to be flopping like that, but we have Olympic experience together. So,o that’s somebody I have high respect for. It’s just competition.
Embiid was able to finish with 33 points on the night as he shot 9-for-19 and 11-for-13 from the foul line. There was some foul grifting at times, but Embiid is so good and so skilled at drawing fouls and getting to the line. It’s something he has mastered throughout his career and the Sixers have been able to rely on him to keep the scoreboard moving in that way.
