The Brooklyn Nets‘ loss is the Milwaukee Bucks‘ gain.

Cam Thomas signed a free agent contract with Milwaukee on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Thomas is just 24 years old and was recently released by the Nets.

He’s a polarizing player.

Thomas is a bucket getter, and that’s about all he is.

He has averaged 15.6 points per game this season, and in the prior two seasons, he put up 24.0 and 22.5 points per game.

Thomas does average 3.1 assists per game this season, but that’s not at all what he’s known for.

It was still a bit surprising the Nets cut him, but they just decided to move into a new future with their young players.

Thomas should add firepower to the Bucks, who are without Giannis Antetokounmpo right now and would have a tough time chasing down a playoff spot.

This gives Milwaukee a chance to see how Thomas fits with their roster. If it works, they can always try to keep him around long term. It’s a low-risk chance, though, and if it fails, it doesn’t really set them back at all.

Thomas will want to prove in his new spot that he can positively impact winning. Everyone knows he can score, so that’s the next challenge in front of him.
