Keagan Smith details his best NBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Monday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers.
The Portland Trail Blazers come off back-to-back wins entering tonight’s matchup, but they may be tested by a Philadelphia 76ers squad finishing up a West Coast road trip. These teams both have some exciting young players and a mix of veterans who can make an impact, so there are plenty of prop bets to check out in this one.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Philadelphia is a 3.5-point road favorite with -155 odds to win on the Moneyline. The game total is set at 229.5 combined points.
Here are the top 76ers vs. Trail Blazers prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for this matchup.
Best 76ers vs. Trail Blazers player prop bets
Donovan Clingan over 11.5 rebounds (-128)
There are few centers dominating the glass like Donovan Clingan lately. The No. 7 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the former UConn Husky is making a strong case as one of the best young big men in the game right now. In 27.5 minutes a night, he’s producing 11.4 points and 11.5 rebounds as a double-double machine. Here’s a look at just a handful of his recent rebounding totals — 19, 17, 15, 12, 20, 15, 16, 18… all of which have come across his last 10 appearances. Since January 1, he averages 13.2 rebounds across 19 games with 14.5 boards per contest across his last 10 outings.
The big man looks like one of the top players at his position anywhere in the NBA right now, so I quite like Clingan’s chances to keep the hot streak rolling. Opposing center Joel Embiid (knee) is questionable to play tonight, meaning there may be one fewer big body for Portland to compete with on the boards. On one hand, that could mean facing Andre Drummond, who typically starts in Embiid’s absence. On the other hand, the 76ers are just 21st in team rebound percentage and don’t have a ton of size in the frontcourt. Between Clingan’s play lately and his 7-foot-2, 280-pound frame, I feel pretty confident in his odds to pull down at least 12 rebounds again tonight after doing so in eight of his last 10 outings.
VJ Edgecombe over 1.5 steals (+115)
Defensive prop bets aren’t always my favorite, especially since they seem to be a little bit random at times with plenty of steals coming off errant passes rather than a player being a true wizard of pickpocketry. However, the environment is actually perfect for one of these picks tonight since the Trail Blazers average an NBA-worst 17.1 turnovers per game. With the league’s worst AST/TO ratio and star forward (and highest-usage player) Deni Avdija potentially sidelined as he’s questionable due to a back injury, that could mean even less reliable playmaking for Portland. The 76ers, meanwhile, are eighth in steals with 9.0 per contest. What does this equation add up to?
Well, Tyrese Maxey posts a team-best 2.0 steals per game, followed by both VJ Edgecombe and Paul George with 1.5 apiece. However, minus odds on at least two steals for Maxey and George’s suspension leave us with Edgecombe as the best bet here. The rookie out of Baylor is 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-7 1/2 wingspan, often finding his way into passing lanes with active hands. He notched at least one steal in 10 straight contests prior to Saturday’s matchup, bringing in multiple steals in five of those games. On the full campaign, Edgecombe has gone over 1.5 steals in 23/48 contests, a hit rate that’s nearly good for the odds of a coin toss (hopefully, those of you reading from eligible jurisdictions picked heads for the Super Bowl last night).
Given how sloppy the Trail Blazers are with the ball, Edgecombe is a great candidate to record multiple steals on Monday at plus value.
