Zach Thompson details his best player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Monday’s matchup between the Thunder and the Lakers.
On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers host the Oklahoma City Thunder in one of the three games tipping off at 10:00 p.m. ET. Both teams will be without their superstar point guards, but it should still be a fun way to close out a busy night of basketball. Each team brings some compelling storylines and fun players to cheer for, so let’s break down the matchup and find some Thunder vs. Lakers player prop bets that make sense to add to your betting card for Monday night.
In the overall picture, the Thunder are 6.5-point road favorites with the point total at 223.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Thunder come into this matchup at 40-13 and still hold the top spot in the Western Conference despite going 3-5 in their last eight games and losing to the Spurs and Rockets in the last two games. The Lakers are 32-19 and currently sitting fifth in the conference. They’ve won three straight and are 6-2 over their last eight.
The injury report is also a critical piece of the outlook for this game, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal) and Ajay Mitchell (abdominal) out for the Thunder, while Luka Doncic (hamstring) is out for the Lakers.
Let’s take a look at the top player prop bets from both the Lakers and Thunder in this Monday night matchup. These picks can be used as standalone plays or combined in a Same Game Parlay (SGP), as indicated at the bottom of the post.
Lakers vs. Thunder Best Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Austin Reaves O4.5 Assists (-102)
Without Luka, Reaves dished out eight assists against the Warriors on Saturday. He only had 16 points but did an impressive job running the offense. He’s averaging 6.0 assists per game this season, but in his seven games without Luka, he’s producing 8.3 assists per game. His usage also goes up, but his assists seem a little more attainable than some of the other lines, which have been adjusted higher without Doncic.
Reaves could also be a little less aggressive, like he was in his last game. He missed a long time with a calf injury and is still playing on a minutes restriction. He only needed 24 minutes to hand out his eight assists on Saturday, though, so he should be able to create shots for his teammates even if his minutes are slightly reduced.
The Lakers have other options for scoring and shooting (including Luke Kennard, highlighted below), but Reaves is by far their best point guard when they’re playing without Doncic.
Cason Wallace O10.5 Points (-106)
Wallace stepped up on Saturday against the Rockets and had 23 points. He chipped in four rebounds, four assists and four steals as well, but his big game wasn’t enough as the Thunder still lost, 112-106.
Wallace has gone over this prop line in four of his last five games, including each of the two games since SGA has been out. He is averaging 8.2 points per game on the season but has scored 14.0 points per game in the three games he played without SGA.
The Thunder rotation will get a boost from Jalen Williams returning from an extended absence, but the forward shouldn’t impact Wallace’s opportunities too radically. If anything, Williams will draw more defensive attention from the Lakers. Williams could also be on a minutes restriction, so Wallace should still get plenty of work.
Wallace gets a big boost with Mitchell and SGA out, and his points total can even be used as a ladder if you want to get more aggressive and look for him to score 15+ (+281) or even 20+ (+1060) this Monday night.
Luke Kennard 10+ Points (+106)
The Lakers traded Gabe Vincent to the Hawks in exchange for veteran sharpshooter Luke Kennard. Kennard had 10 points in his Lakers debut, logging 26 minutes and hitting a pair of three-pointers.
Lots has been made about Kennard having a green light from Los Angeles, but he does bring plenty of scoring on the outside, which should work well with the rest of the rotation. Without Doncic, Reaves will run the show, but he’ll probably look to get Kennard as many open looks on the outside as possible.
He’s only averaging 8.0 points per game on the season, but with more spacing and more opportunities for the Lakers, Kennard should pick up his production for the rest of the year, continuing in Monday night’s matchup with the Thunder.
Bonus Parlay Pick: Chet Holmgren U1.5 3PM (-157)
If you’re building an SGP (Same Game Parlay) from this Friday night matchup, adding in the under on Holmgren’s 3PM (three-pointers made) boosts the odds to +1000 for these four Thunder-Lakers bets.
Holmgren has been held under this prop in six straight games and 12 of his last 15. He does have the ability to go off for big games from long range, but he hasn’t been taking or making as many three-pointers, even with the team short-handed in the backcourt.
