NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets (15-37) had to be feeling good about themselves after getting a blowout win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday. However, Brooklyn would have their work cut out for them with a Chicago Bulls (24-30) coming to town for the last time this season and the Nets took care of business to build their current two-game winning streak.
The Nets beat the Bulls 123-115 thanks to the excellent play of a few of the players that helped build a 15-point lead despite the fact that Chicago was able to tie the game up in the second half. Center Nic Claxton had one of the best seasons of his career as he dropped 28 points and 10 rebounds while forward Noah Clowney is starting to find his rhythm to the tune of 22 points and six rebounds.
The Nets amassed a 15-point partly due to the fact that both ends of the floor were working as one unit despite the fact that Chicago’s guards combined for 57 points, led by Anfernee Simons and his 23 points and seven assists. Brooklyn has one game left before the All-Star break so with that being said, here are the Nets player grades after Monday’s win over the Bulls:
Nolan Traore: A
Traore has been playing well for the Nets as of late and against the Bulls, he showed more of what draft experts were expecting from him once he gets more comfortable playing NBA basketball. Traore did a good job of scoring the ball when he had a full head of steam going to the rim, but more than that, he did a great job of setting up his teammates, notching double-digit assists.

With rookie Egor Demin out of the lineup for this game due to rest, Mann was put into the starting lineup and did what head coach Jordi Fernandez wants to see from him whenever he’s on the floor. Mann was efficient with the ball in his hands and he didn’t resort to taking many shots that weren’t in his usual actions and he played solid defense on the perimeter.
Danny Wolf: A
With Michael Porter Jr. out of the rotation as he deals with right knee tendinitis, Wolf was able to get in the starting lineup and he had plenty of good moments against Chicago. Wolf was solid on the offensive end of the floor as his three-point shot was falling while doing a little bit of everything with his rebounding and ability to make plays with his hands on the defensive end of the court.
Noah Clowney: A
Clowney has been going through a shooting slump of his own as he has not only dealt with injuries, but also some issues with his rhythm as defenses are game-planning for the Nets in different ways. In this one, Clowney did a great job of shooting the three-point shot as well as getting to the rim and using the size he has to either finish at the rim or get to the free-throw line.
Nic Claxton: A+
With the way Claxton played against the Bulls, it looks like he woke up on the cool side of the pillow as he had everything working from him, including making his only three-point attempt of the game. Claxton had a decent matchup against Guerschon Yabusele and he took advantage of that by essentially giving himself the green light to make some plays with the ball in his hands.
Jalen Wilson: B-
With Porter and demin out of the lineup for this matchup with the Bulls, someone had to step up off the bench and Wilson was called upon to soak up some of those minutes. Wilson didn’t have his shot falling in this one as he couldn’t get any of his open threes to fall, but he did a good job of rebounding and he made plenty of plays on the defensive end of the floor.
Ziaire Williams: B-
Williams, similar to Jalen Wilson, didn’t play in Saturday’s blowout win over the Wizards, but with Porter and Demin missing this game for their respective reasons, he was able to get some playing time and he made the most of it. Williams did a good job of scoring the ball overall despite not having much of his three-point shooting touch and his effort on the defensive end was palpable.
Day’Ron Sharpe: C+
Sharpe was not his usual efficient self finishing around the rim despite having some opportunities to go at Guerschon Yabusele and Nick Richards over the course of his minutes. To that point, Sharpe did a great job of rebounding the basketball and his activity on both ends of the floor was encouraging to see from a player that has been giving his best all season.
Drake Powell: B
Powell has been getting some tough love from Fernandez over the past few games, but with the way he played against the Bulls, it looks like this was the version of him that Fernandez was waiting for. Powell looked confident with the ball in his hands, including his poster in the first quarter, and as long as he’s feeling like himself, Powell can be a force on both ends of the floor.
Ben Saraf: C+
Saraf did not have a good shooting performance in this one despite getting some decent looks against a Bulls defense that can be taken advantage of. Saraf’s shooting struggles have been documented throughout the season as he adjusts to the NBA level, but his ability to pass the ball in the face of pressure has been a positive element of his game to see as he gets more experience.
