NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets (15-37) had to be feeling good about themselves after getting a blowout win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday. However, Brooklyn had their work cut out for them with the Chicago Bulls (24-30) coming to town for the last time this season. The Nets took care of business to extend their winning streak to two games.
The Nets beat the Bulls 123-115 thanks to the excellent play of a few players that helped build a 15-point lead despite the fact that Chicago was able to tie the game up in the second half. Center Nic Claxton had one of the best games of his career as he dropped 28 points and 10 rebounds while forward Noah Clowney is starting to find his rhythm to the tune of 22 points and six rebounds.
The Nets amassed a double-digit lead in the second half partly due to the fact that both ends of the floor were working as one unit despite the fact that Chicago’s guards combined for 57 points, led by Anfernee Simons and his 23 points and seven assists. Brooklyn has one game left before the All-Star break so with that being said, here are three Nets takeaways from Monday’s win over the Bulls:
Nic Claxton Pops Off For Career Game
Claxton is in the midst of what could be his best season of his NBA career, but this matchup against the Bulls showed his impact in a different way than what he’s been doing throughout the campaign. Claxton finished this game with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, displaying his ability to dominate with his scoring and rebounding as opposed to blocking shots and setting up his teammates for easy buckets.

Clowney has had some rough shooting games over the past couple of weeks as he was missing many of the shots that he was making in the beginning of the season, but he seems to have overcome that slump, at least for the time being. Clowney finished this matchup against Chicago with 22 points (7-of-11 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 from three-point land) and six rebounds while looking more like the version of himself that was in the midst of a breakout year earlier in this campaign.
Nolan Traore Putting It Altogether
Most of the talk around Traore this season has been about him adjusting to the speed and physicality of the NBA game along with him developing in real-time for a Nets team that needs someone to run the offense at an effective level. Traore has had his struggles this season in terms of his shooting and decision-making, but he ended this contest with his first double-double of the year as he dropped 13 points and 13 assists with just three turnovers in 32 minutes on the floor.
