On Monday evening, the Cleveland Cavs continued their winning ways with a narrow road win over the Denver Nuggets. It was another epic game for Donovan Mitchell, who scored 32 points in the win, while new trade acquisition James Harden pitched in 22 of his own, to go along with 10 rebounds and seven assists.
After the game, Harden got 100% honest on how Mitchell’s unselfishness is helping the Cavs to be successful this year.
“Being on his team, he can go out there and literally average 35 points a game. But his willingness to pass and be unselfish, it’s a testament to what type of person he is, what type of basketball player he is,” said Harden during his postgame interview, per Oh No He Didn’t on X, formerly Twitter.
Harden also got real on his excitement for playing in front of Cavs fans at home for the first time later on this week.
“It’s go time,” he said.
The Cavs had already been playing some much improved basketball by the time they decided to go out and get Harden at the NBA trade deadline, sending Darius Garland out to the Los Angeles Clippers in return. However, it seems that Harden will be able to help the Cavs hit another gear, and it also certainly helps that he is consistently available, which could not always be said about Garland during his tenure in Cleveland.
There have been some questions about Harden’s ability to mesh with Mitchell, given that both stars are seemingly at their best with the ball in their hands.

However, this hasn’t been a problem thus far in Cleveland, as both Harden and Mitchell have shown a willingness to let one another cook, and are more than capable of being spot-up shooters in their own right.
In any case, the Cavs will hit the floor at home for the first time in the Harden era on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards.
