New Oklahoma City Thunder signee Jared McCain showed behind the scenes of his move to OKC in a vlog-style YouTube video posted on Monday evening.
McCain, 21, was traded from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick and three second-round picks. In his video, the guard shared his journey from Philadelphia to Oklahoma City, not holding back on expressing his feelings.

“It’s been an emotional few days, chat,” McCain said. “It’s like our parents just got divorced and we can’t live with either of them, and we have to go somewhere else new.”

Philadelphia drafted McCain out of Duke in the 2024 NBA Draft, where he was the 16th overall pick. McCain said it was tough to leave the team that drafted him behind.
An emotional McCain related his trade experience to the song “A Couple Minutes” by Olivia Dean. The song is about accepting that a past relationship is over.
Playing the song on his phone, McCain highlighted some specific lyrics.

“And although it’s over, I’ll always be there,” Dean sings in her song, which McCain dedicated to Sixers fans.
The video ended in McCain’s first game for the Thunder, the 112-106 loss to the Rockets at Paycom Center. McCain scored five points in his debut as his parents were seen emotional and cheering in the crowd.
McCain scored seven points on the road in his second game, against the Lakers.
“I’m an emotional guy,” McCain said on his video. “I’m allowing myself to feel what I need to feel. For all the men out there, for all the kids watching this, it’s okay to feel what you feel. You’re gonna go through every single emotion. You don’t have to suppress it, you don’t have to keep it all in. It’s all something you’re allowed to let out, you’re allowed to feel what you need to feel, whether it’s sadness, anger, or frustration. I’m feeling all of it. “
