BOSTON – Seeking a third straight win, the Boston University men’s basketball team will visit Army West Point Wednesday evening with the tip-off set for a 6 p.m. start.

The Terriers enter the matchup with back-to-back wins at Holy Cross (72-64) and vs. Loyola Maryland (78-69), while the Black Knights came up just short vs. Lafayette (63-60) following 69-55 defeat at Colgate. Coincidentally, both BU and Army went to overtime at Bucknell with the Bison edging the Terriers, 103-97 (2OT), and dropping an 87-84 decision to the Black Knights.

TERRIER TIDBITS


BU ranks 35th nationally shooting 48.5 FG%, which would be a program record if the season ended today, and 15th in 3-point shooting at 38.5 3FG%.
Junior Michael McNair is the lone Terrier to start all 25 contests and currently leads the Terriers at 16.4 ppg, thanks to shooting 45.8 percent in 3-point territory. With 81 3-pointers, he’s 14 away from tying John Papale’s (’16) program record.
Sophomore Ben Defty is second in points averaging 14.5 ppg alongside a team-high 7.2 rpg and 1.7 bpg, while freshman Chance Gladden (13.8 ppg) leads the Terriers in assists at 4.5 apg.
Freshman Sam Hughes (9.7 ppg) and sophomore Azmar Abdullah (8.3 ppg) are close behind combining for 99 3-pointers.
Overall, BU is averaging 75.7 ppg while holding opponents to 76.1 ppg and 47.1 FG%.

SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT


Army is 6-7 at home compared to their 4-8 away record with notable wins vs. Lehigh (67-64), Holy Cross (69-68), Binghamton (95-85) and Manhattan (81-78).
Army has competed in five overtime contests, earning wins at Bucknell, at Lehigh, vs. Binghamton and Manhattan alongside a home loss to Loyola Maryland. 
Three Black Knights are averaging double figures in points with Ryan Curry leading the away at 14.6 ppg alongside 4.7 apg and 4.3 rpg.
Jaxson Bell (11.3 ppg) and Jacen Holloway (10.3 ppg) are bunched up together alongside Jackson Furman (9.8 ppg).
Posting a 3-3 record after starting conference play at 1-5, the Black Knights are currently averaging 72.9 ppg and 41.4 FG% while holding opponents to 77.2 ppg and 45.8 FG%.

SERIES HISTORY


BU leads the series, 24-20, after posting a 100-91 home victory at Case Gym back on Jan. 10 in which the Terriers shot a program-record 66.7 FG%.
Both teams had two players score 20+ points with McNair leading the way at 28 points thanks to his 7-for-8 performance in 3-point territory, while Gladden went 11-for-12 at the charity stripe en route to 26 points.
Curry (24 pts.) and Furman (20 pts.) led Army in scoring, as the Black Knights edged the Terriers in made 3-pointers, 16-15, 
Army last year posted a 68-62 victory at Christl Arena, posting a 54.8 FG% with 9-6 lead in made 3-pointers.
Down by 21 at the half, senior Ben Roy totaled 17 points to help BU rally to within single digits at 11:07 and later four points with a couple of minutes remaining.

LOOKING AHEAD


BU will return to Case Gym for two home games over three days, starting with Bucknell on Saturday (Feb. 14) at 1 p.m.
The Bison outlasted the Terriers in double overtime, 103-97.
