Wednesday night the Minnesota Timberwolves are set to host the Portland Trailblazers. Fresh off a dominant 22-point win against the Atlanta Hawks, they’ll look to close out the first half on a positive note.
Chris Finch’s team is currently 33-22 and sixth in the Western Conference. It would be a significant positive to go into the All-Star Break riding some positive momentum. That could help to thwart some of the bubbling feelings from the locker room.
Unfortunately, the Timberwolves might be up against it without Anthony Edwards.
Anthony Edwards status in question for MN Timberwolves
Named as a reserve to the All-Star Game by the narrowest of margins, Anthony Edwards may miss the final game of the first half. In advance of their contest against the Trailblazers, Edwards is currently dealing with an illness.

Edwards has played in 45 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves this year. He’s averaging a career-best 29.6 points per game and shooting a near career-high 49.2% from the field. Unfortunately, different situations have already had him miss ten games.
The fewest games Edwards has ever played in a season are 72, and he’d need to play the rest of the way in order to hit that mark. In the previous three seasons, the Timberwolves superstar has missed just three games each.
Wednesday night’s matchup against the Trailblazers is Minnesota’s first showdown with Portland since a 118-114 season opening win in Oregon. Following that contest head coach and former MN Timberwolves guard Chauncey Billups was in court with ties to the mafia.
If Edwards misses the game with an illness, it still stands to reason that he can be available for the All-Star Game. Just missing out on starting honors, he was selected for the fourth-straight season.
The NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for February 15 in Los Angeles. A round robin format takes place in order to set up the All-Star Championship.
