Former Badger Micah Potter, may have finally found his groove with the Indiana Pacers and in the NBA. Potter has been mostly a journeyman through his career, going from the Detroit Pistons to the Utah Jazz for three seasons, and finally, now he’s on the Indiana Pacers.
His major contribution at that time has been mostly helping off the bench. He’s never really had a breakout game until tonight versus the Brooklyn Nets. He not only had a career high in points, but he also contributed in a ton of other ways. He was impressive, and his recent rise with the Pacers makes you think he’s developed into a really solid depth piece.

Against the Nets, Potter had 19 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks, and one steal. He was 6-8 from the field and 1-2 from behind the arc. He did this all in only 27 minutes of play.
Those 19 points were a new career high; his previous was 16, which he got earlier this season against the San Antonio Spurs. It’s been a great year for him with the Pacers; he’s only 15 points away from his season high in points. He’s averaging about three more points per game than the best season in his career (last season with Utah).
This is promising as each season he seems to get more comfortable in the NBA, and he’s now hitting his stride. He’s probably never going to be an NBA superstar, but to be a solid contributor, especially off the bench, is an important part of winning NBA Championships. He seems to not only be able to come in a spell one of the big men, but he’s capable of logging minutes and putting together a fantastic stat line.
Right now, with injuries on the Pacers, he’s being called on more, and he’s proving he’s worthy of the call. Good for the former Badger.
