The Heat was on.

It was too much for the New Orleans Pelicans to handle Wednesday night.

Miami weas physical from start to finish and pushed past the Pelicans 123-111 at Smoothie King Center.

The Heat led most of the way, and Bam Adebayo was too much to handle. He went for 27 points, pulled down 14 rebounds and blocked four shots to pace Miami.

Zion Williamson led New Orleans with 26 points. The good news for New Orleans is Williamson has now played in 30 straight games, a career high of consecutive games played for him.

New Orleans rallied late to pull within four points at 115-111 but got no closer,

Miami whipped the Pelicans 56-47 on the boards, including 18 offensive rebounds.

New Orleans had six players in double figures, including Trey Murphy, who scored 19 points. Others were Saddiq Bey with 14 points, Jeremiah Fears with 13 points, along with Bryce McGowens and Derik Queen with 12 points each.

The Pelicans were whistled for 23 fouls to just 15 for the Heat and New Orleans was outscored 25-16 at the free throw line.

The Pelicans (15-41) hit the All-Star break and will return to action a week from Friday at home against Milwaukee.
