The Brooklyn Nets (15-38) came into their last game prior to All-Star Weekend with the potential of notching a three-game winning streak that could temporarily ease the pain of the past couple of months. Brooklyn was presumably given a gift with the Indiana Pacers (15-40) not having most of its rotation available, but the Nets didn’t do their job of finishing the game.

The Nets lost to the Pacers on Wednesday 115-110 despite amassing an 18-point lead as Indiana began to figure out how to run its offense to get the shots they wanted. Rookie guard Nolan Traore led the way for the Nets with his 20 points and eight assists while center Day’Ron Sharpe had 19 points and 12 rebounds in his latest start in place of Nic Claxton, who missed the game due to a hip injury.

The Pacers didn’t most of its usual rotation available, including Pascal Siakam and Ivica Zubac, but forward Jarace Walker stepped up for Indiana to the tune of 23 points and five rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor. The Nets head into the All-Star Break with a loss so here are the Nets player grades following Wednesday’s loss to the Pacers in disappointing fashion:

Nolan Traore: B+

Traore did a great job of scoring the ball in this one as he attacked the rim repeatedly to either set up his own baskets or to set up his teammates for open looks from the perimeter. Traore did a good job of running the offense and getting his teammates into position to make plays, but he also turned the ball over more than he normally does over the past few games.

Demin did a great job of shooting the ball from behind the three-point line as he looked comfortable shooting the ball on his open looks from the perimeter. While Demin is mostly doing his damage shooting the ball, he did a great job of getting to the free-throw line and drawing contact at the basket, an important skill for him to learn to become more efficient on a game-by-game basis.

Terance Mann: C-

With Michael Porter Jr. missing this game as he continues to deal with tendinitis in his right knee, Mann remained in the starting lineup, but his performance left something to be desired against an injury-riddled Pacers team. Mann struggled with his shooting efficiency on his limited touches and his impact on both ends of the floor was muted for someone with his experience.

Ziaire Williams: B+

Noah Clowney aggravated his ankle injury during warmups for this game so he ended up being ruled out for the matchup, allowing Williams to be in the starting lineup. Williams did a great job of scoring the ball overall as he had his shooting and driving to the rim working in tandem while applying plenty of pressure on the perimeter on the defensive end of the floor.

Day’Ron Sharpe: A

Sharpe got another chance to start with Nic Claxton being ruled out with his hip issue and the former North Carolina Tar Heel made the most of his extra playing time against the Pacers. Sharpe did a great job of scoring the ball at the rim while going against an athletic defender in Jay Huff while being all over the glass on both ends of the floor as he established himself in the paint.

Jalen Wilson: D

Wilson saw some extra playing time with some of the usual players in the rotation out of the lineup due to their respective injuries, but he wasn’t able to get going on the offensive end of the floor. This was another game where Wilson’s value was limited due to his inability to make shots, but his effort is always there and that is something that head coach Jordi Fernandez appreciates.

Danny Wolf: B-

Wolf surprisingly wasn’t in the starting lineup for this game despite the fact that both Porter and Clowney were ruled out for this matchup with their respective injuries and he had a tough time getting going on the offensive end of the court. It was encouraging to see Wolf remain aggressive throughout the game, especially with how he rebounded, but he also turned the ball over more than he normally does.

Ochai Agbaji: C+

Agbaji made his Nets debut in the first quarter of this contest and while he didn’t score, he did some useful things during his time on the floor, especially with his rebounding. Agbaji presents as the kind of player that is willing to make effort plays and the hope is that his scoring can get back to what he was doing during the best season of his career last year for the Toronto Raptors.

Drake Powell: C

Powell saw some extended playing time against Indiana, but he showed that he still has some issues to correct when it comes to his offensive output. Powell had a tough time shooting the ball and he turned the ball over more than he generated assists so the question for Powell to answer is when he can turn the corner in terms of his reliability on both ends of the floor.

Ben Saraf: B-

Saraf did a good job of scoring the ball overall and more to the point, he did a great job of getting to the free-throw line thanks to his aggressiveness and willingness to get two feet into the paint. Saraf did a good job of rebounding and taking care of the basketball, but he still has to figure out how to defend his man without fouling and bailing out his opponents.
