The San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to six with a 126-113 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs beat the Golden State Warriors 126-113 on the road. Victor Wembanyama led the team with 26 points and nine rebounds. The Spurs have now won six straight games.

Keldon Johnson finished with 21 points and six rebounds. Harrison Barnes added 10 points. Devin Vassell scored eight points, and Stephon Castle had eight points and four rebounds. De’Aaron Fox added 27 points. Dylan Harper had 14 points in 29 minutes. Carter Bryant had eight.

The Spurs are 38-16 and will next be on their All-Star break.

Here’s a sample of what the Spurs and Warriors said after the game.

“It’s been really fun to see his (Fox) growth and his leadership and him using his voice. He had a couple timeouts tonight that he took over and gave some direction with conviction. He’s that level of player that he puts the voice with the game, guys will listen and they’ll follow that. I thought he was exceptional tonight in terms of just not forcing anything, but then also controlling the game all at the same time.”

“Just stay aggressive. Obviously, there are times where shots are falling, there are times where you’re not making shots, you just try to affect the game in different ways. Tonight was putting the ball in the basket, but I think more so, just what we did defensively. Being able to get out in transition, create easier baskets for us, I think that was the reason that we were able to blow this game open.”

“The whole time I was thinking that like ‘I need to make the efforts right now, because we got a few days of rest after,’ and we would have greatly regretted it if we broke our winning streak tonight.”

“Well, they (Spurs) turned up their defense, and we needed to respond and get a couple hoops. We just couldn’t get anything to go. So the way they closed that quarter, I don’t know if it was a 16-0 run or whatever it was. But just changed all the momentum we had built throughout the game. So they went into the fourth quarter with all the momentum. So that was a turning point obviously. Our guys played great, really competed, moved the ball, did everything possible to win the game. It’s too bad we couldn’t finish it off but proud of the guys for the effort.”
