The Miami Heat don’t know when to expect Tyler Herro back on the court this season.
Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro hasn’t played in a month, and it doesn’t appear that will be changing any time soon.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra gave Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald an update on the star point guard and when Heat fans should expect his return to the court.
“He will be back,” Spoelstra said. “Yes, for sure. I don’t have a timeline exactly of when that will be … We’ll see how he progresses.”
Herro has been sidelined with a rib injury he sustained on January 15 against the Boston Celtics. Initially, Herro was expected to return to action in a relatively short period of time, but going into the All-Star break, there still isn’t a return date.
This season, Herro is averaging 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game when he’s played.
Injury issues have plagued the Heat throughout the season. In their last game against New Orleans, they used their eighth different starting lineup in as many games.
Multiple key players have missed significant time for the Heat this season. Herro has only played in 11 games this season. Heat guard Norman Powell has missed 11 games and Heat center Bam Adebayo has missed eight games this season.
No Heat player has played all 56 games this season. Heat guard Dru Smith leads the team in games played with 55.
The Miami Heat Will Have a Chance for Players to Rest Over the All-Star Break

With the injuries piling up to key players, the All-Star break is coming at an important time for the Miami Heat.
The Heat won’t play again until Friday, February 20, against the Atlanta Hawks. Practice won’t resume until the Thursday before the game.
That’s eight days of rest time for players like Norman Powell and forward Andrew Wiggins to rest and return to action.
“Hopefully, we can get everybody back. I feel like we should,” Heat second-year center Kel’el Ware told Anthony Chiang. “I feel like we should have everybody back. Everybody should be healthy. Everybody take some time off and we can come back stronger.”
Consistency has been one of the Heat’s largest issues this season, and injuries play a large role in a team’s ability to play consistent basketball.
If the Heat’s main starting five can build momentum and play multiple games as a unit, that would go a long way for a Heat team looking to stack wins together.
What Should Miami Heat Fans Expect After the All-Star Break?
While the return of Tyler Herro is still uncertain, the Miami Heat will still return multiple players who have missed games with injuries.
The Heat also have the second-easiest schedule in the NBA after the All-Star break, meaning don’t be surprised if this team can go on a run.
“We got a lot to prove. We got a lot to still do in this season,” Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. told Anthony Chiang. “The beautiful thing about it, we have a lot of games left still. But this is going to be a big push for us. We’re going to be a hungry team. Go out there and firing on all cylinders.”
