LeBron James may be an aging king, but he’s still the King.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar, with Luka Doncic out, put on a show on Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks in a 124-104 win.

James became the oldest player in NBA history to put up a triple-double, scoring 28 points with 10 rebounds and 12 assists while playing at 41 years old.

He actually set an even more impressive record, though.

James is the first NBA player of 40 years or older to have more points, more rebounds, more assists and more minutes played in a single game than any other player on either team, according to OptaStats.

No one was close to James’ 28 points. His teammate, Rui Hachimura, had 21. For the Mavs, Naji Marshall and Max Christie both had 19 (with Cooper Flagg out injured).

James’ 10 rebounds were somehow also well clear of the field. Jaxson Hayes had seven for the Lakers, and Daniel Gafford had six for the Mavericks.

The 12 assists? Again well in the clear. Brandon Williams had seven for the Mavs.

The 35 minutes were matched without seconds being considered by Hachimura’s 35, but no one went over. Hayes played 34 for L.A., and P.J. Washington played 34 for Dallas.

At this point, LeBron can embrace the Toby Keith mantra, I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.

On nights that Doncic and Austin Reaves both play, James can take a secondary role at times.

But when one is out, like Doncic was Thursday night, LeBron is still plenty capable of stepping up and stealing the show. It’s what the King does.
