Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin has been having a solid rookie season for the Nets especially since the calendar turned to December, coinciding with the team’s dominant stretch during the month. While Brooklyn has struggled to return to the form they had in December, Demin has been one of the players that has maintained his level of play through it all.
Demin will be participating in the NBA’s Rising Stars competition on Friday, meaning that he was considered to be one of the better rookie/sophomore players in the league this season. Demin, who will be playing on the same floor as players like Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel, will be able to show off his game in front of a national TV audience for one of the few times this season.

Demin, 19, is averaging 10.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the field and 39.6% from three-point land in 46 appearances for the Nets this season. Since December, Demin is averaging 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 41.9% from the floor and 41.9% from deep with the Nets posting an 11-18 record over that stretch.
“I can’t tell [you] I was really thinking about it so much. Obviously, a lot of games. We got to focus on that first obviously, it’s also a goal for anybody,” Demin said in January when asked when he thought that being in the Rising Stars challenge would be a possibility for him. “I’m pretty sure, just to get to All Star Weekend, in any part of it, it’s an honor.”
Demin will be the first player to represent the Nets in the Rising Stars challenge since Brooklyn sent both center Jarrett Allen and forward Rodions Kurucs during the 2018-19 campaign. Demin will get his chance to show what he can do in front of millions of fans that will be tuning in to see some of the players that could be the future of the NBA so here’s what you need to know to get ready to Demin take the floor in the Rising Stars game:
