Rookie Memphis Grizzlies wing Cedric Coward won’t play in the NBA Rising Stars games on Feb. 13 due to right knee soreness, a Grizzlies team spokesperson told The Commercial Appeal. He will be reevaluated after the NBA All-Star break.

Coward suffered the injury in the second quarter on Feb. 9 against the Golden State Warriors. He did not play on Feb. 11 against the Denver Nuggets.

Coward has been one of the NBA’s most productive rookies this season He is averaging 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds in 48 games played.

Memphis will still be represented during the Rising Stars contest. Second-year wings Cam Spencer and Jaylen Wells were also selected to participate.

Four teams will participate in the games. Spencer is playing for “Team T-Mac,” and Wells will represent “Team Vince.” Coward was also selected for Team Vince.

Team T-Mac and Team Vince are scheduled to play in the second game.
