THE OPENING TIP
Pitt battled early but couldn’t overcome a decisive second quarter run, falling to Syracuse, 84-51, on Thursday night inside the Petersen Events Center.
Three Panthers reached double figures in scoring, led by Theresa Hagans Jr. with 13 points and a team-high five assists.
Mikayla Johnson added 10 points, notching her 18th double-digit performance on the season along with eight rebounds.
Fatima Diakhate tallied 10 points, shooting 5-of-6 on the night.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday marks the fifth all-time meeting between Pitt and SMU and the second of the 2025-26 season.
The Mustangs won the first matchup, 83-76, in Pittsburgh.
Pitt leads the series 3-1.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Zahra King has continued to shine for SMU, leading the way with an average of 14.5 points per game. King is shooting 39.4% from deep and has connected on 37 made threes.
Anaya Brown leads the way on the glass, grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game. Brown has amassed 34 blocks on the season.
SMU averages 5.9 made three-pointers per game.
