Just when the Sacramento Kings welcomed back Domantas Sabonis after an extended absence, another setback has emerged.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Zach LaVine will undergo surgery on his right hand following the All-Star break and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

The loss is a major blow for Sacramento. LaVine has been the team’s leading scorer this year, averaging 19.2 points per game, slightly ahead of DeMar DeRozan, who is putting up 18.7.

Without their top offensive weapon, the challenge becomes even steeper for a franchise already struggling at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

The Kings currently sit last in the West with a 12–44 record, and LaVine’s absence further complicates what has been a difficult campaign in Sacramento.
