The Cleveland Cavaliers have become one of the best teams in recent weeks after a slow start to the season. Of course, they traded for James Harden at the deadline, which was a major move to double down on their current squad.

Harden joins a backcourt with superstar guard Donovan Mitchell. They have the potential to be a contending team, but some people are looking beyond this season, as they feel hometown hero LeBron James could return to Cleveland.

Mitchell would welcome a LeBron comeback

The Cavaliers are always connected to LeBron because of his status as a hometown hero. He is the franchise’s best player with his two stints from 2003 to 2010 and 2014 to 2018. James led them to multiple NBA Finals, finally winning it in 2016.

Nowadays, Mitchell is the Cavaliers’ best player, which has led to him answering LeBron-related questions all the time. It would be an honor for Mitchell to play alongside an all-time great, but he is focused on the current season.

James is still with the Los Angeles Lakers, the team he has played for since leaving Cleveland in 2018. However, he is in the last year of his contract with the Lakers, so rumors of him coming back home are intensifying.

“As a Bron fan, being a teammate would be special, but that’s not in my control. There’s always going to be reports, that’s natural, it’s gonna be a thing. At the end of the day, my focus is trying to get this championship,” Mitchell said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Mitchell did well to navigate this topic because anyone would love to play alongside LeBron. However, the trade deadline has passed, so the sole focus in Mitchell’s mind is winning. Trades and signings are not up to him, so he will do his best to lead the Cavaliers to the promised land.
