For all the moves that the Los Angeles Clippers made at the NBA trade deadline, it was the one that they didn’t make that stood out. Los Angeles decided to keep star forward Kawhi Leonard on the roster, even after trading away guard James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But now, there are trade rumors swirling around Leonard ahead of the offseason, and some around the league believe he could be moved. While Leonard remains an effective player for the team, Los Angeles has to think about the future of the franchise.

This team has gotten younger with the moves at the trade deadline, and Leonard may not fit the plan going forward. If the Clippers were to place Leonard on the trade block, there would be plenty of suitors to land the All-Star.

But which teams make the most sense for the veteran?

Here are the top four landing spots for Leonard before the NBA offseason:

Miami Heat Shouldn’t Trade For Ja Morant

The Golden State Warriors Have Wasted Steph Curry

Phoenix Suns

The Suns have exceeded expectations this season, and this could see them look to make a splash this offseason. Putting Leonard next to Devin Booker could allow Phoenix to really take off, giving them a chance to go after a title again.

Phoenix wouldn’t have the best trade package for the Clippers, but if Leonard has any say in where he goes, the Suns make sense. The location is close enough to his hometown, and Phoenix would offer him a chance to stay competitive.

Golden State Warriors

For the Warriors, Leonard could offer them a one-year run at a title next to Steph Curry. Golden State could offer Los Angeles the expiring contract of Jimmy Butler, giving the Clippers a massive salary opening for the 2027 offseason.

Leonard could give the Warriors exactly what they need alongside Curry and potentially Draymond Green. His defense is still strong, while being able to generate his own shot at an even better rate than what Butler did for this team.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves will likely be trying to add another star next to Anthony Edwards this summer, and Leonard could be the answer. Minnesota has been interested in wings for some time, with them going after Kevin Durant last offseason and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline.

But Leonard may be in a better spot, especially since his contract is much more team-friendly. Putting the defensive force that Leonard is next to Edwards could elevate the Timberwolves into one of the favorites to win the NBA title next season.

Miami Heat

Miami is linked with every star that becomes available, and at some point, they have to land someone, right? But putting Leonard in South Beach for even one season could see the Heat take off, especially if he is paired with Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.

The Heat will have the major expiring deal of Andrew Wiggins to offer in a trade, which would allow the Clippers to save salary room. Overall, Miami could be one of the stronger landing spots for Leonard if he is moved.
