NBA All-Star Weekend has certainly lost much of its luster over the years and that became more apparent during Saturday night’s 2026 NBA Dunk Contest where Jase Richardson and other players competed.
The former Michigan State standout appeared in the Dunk Contest after reigning champion Mac McClung wasn’t present to defend his title.

However, Jase Richardson might be rethinking his inclusion in the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities. This comes after the Orlando Magic guard was brutally trolled by NBA fans following his viral failed dunk.

The 2025 NBA Draft first-round pick became an instant meme Saturday night. This comes after Richardson was denied on one of his dunk attempts by the backboard.

Meanwhile, there was concern as well amongst NBA fans after Jase Richardson took a brutal tumble on the floor after landing hard on his back. Thankfully, the former Michigan State guard was able to bounce back up to his feet.
This season, Richardson has averaged roughly five points per game while playing limited minutes. However, the Magic may need to rely on the young player more during the second half of the 2025-26 season.

Basketball fans were thoroughly disappointed with the participants in the Dunk Contest though as commissioner Adam Silver and the league face big questions regarding their marquee event.
Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game debuts a new format with three teams competing in front of the Los Angeles crowd. Many NBA stars like Luka Doncic, Victor Wembanyama and more will take the floor in the event.
