The Milwaukee Bucks managed to make their way past the trade deadline without dealing their franchise superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to the surprise of many. However, just because he made it past that deadline, doesn’t mean he’ll make it past another.

Fansided’s Bryan Toporek believes that by the end of this upcoming offseason, Antetokounmpo will be ready to wear different colors than green and cream.
“Much like this year’s trade deadline, the Bucks could hold up the entire offseason market if they try to stall before entertaining trade offers for the Greek Freak. He’ll have only one guaranteed season left on his contract, though, so he can effectively force the Bucks to trade him by pledging not to re-sign with them as a free agent in 2027…Given the months of smoke around Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee, the Bucks seem like they’re fighting an uphill battle to keep him beyond this season,” Toporek wrote.
So far this season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 0.9 steals in 30 games. He’s been injured for a portion of the season, but he’s still one of the most dominant forces in the NBA.

As for Milwaukee’s chances of keeping him, they are quite slim. They didn’t make an attempt at the deadline to get a co-star for Antetokounmpo, but they did manage to acquire Cam Thomas after he was waived by the Brooklyn Nets.
However, it’s not enough. And now the Bucks and their fans better be ready for an era of post-Greek Freak basketball in Milwaukee.
