The Golden State Warriors will continue to be linked to different targets on the buyout market until they complete a signing (it isn’t mandatory, though).

While a former Boston Celtics forward and two-time NBA champion is unlikely to ink a deal with the Warriors this year, Blue Man Hoop’s Peter O’Keefe believes it would be illogical to rule out the possibility of him joining the fold.
“When the veteran became a free agent in the offseason, there were a number of Golden State fans urging for the franchise to reunite with Boucher after he appeared in just one game — albeit still winning a championship — during the 2017-18 season,” O’Keefe wrote Sunday.
“That didn’t come to fruition, and it’s unlikely too now despite the Warriors still having an open roster spot to utilize after trading Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield, and Trayce Jackson-Davis last Wednesday.”

“However, perhaps it shouldn’t be completely ruled out given Golden State seemingly have a thing right now for former Boston big men. The Warriors signed Al Horford from the Celtics during the offseason and only just traded Kuminga and Hield for Kristaps Porzingis, not to mention their third center, Quinten Post, was drafted 52nd overall out of Boston College in 2024.”
The Celtics expected more from Boucher this season. The Oregon product utilized his alluring physical tools, respectable three-point shooting, and defensive instincts to be a positive contributor with the Toronto Raptors last year.
Boucher averaged 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game during his last season with the Raptors, shooting 49.2% from the field and 36.3% from beyond the arc. The 33-year-old only contributed 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds with the Celtics this season, connecting on 32% of his field goals and 13.3% of his triples.

Boston traded him to Utah before the trade deadline, but the Jazz moved on from him before he appeared in a game with the franchise.
Could a reunion with the Warriors help Boucher return to his serviceable ways? Perhaps, but as O’Keefe noted, it’s a relatively slim possibility.
