Before the NBA All-Star Game even tipped off, Kevin Durant did not resemble a player enjoying the festivities.
It was 2017. That’s when Durant was first exposed for using a burner account on Twitter (now X). He accidentally replied to a fan from his real account while clearly defending himself in the third person about his time with the Thunder and his move to the Warriors. It looks like the veteran hasn’t learned his lesson, as it appears a new burner has leaked
Video circulating on X showed Durant pacing the floor with his phone in hand, eyes fixed on the screen. His expression looked tight. When a staff member pointed him toward another direction, cameras caught what appeared to be a strained smile before he turned away, Yahoo reports. While other stars laughed and embraced, Durant moved with visible tension.
The timing mattered.
Hours earlier, screenshots from accounts under the handles @gethigher77 and @getoffmydickerson spread across social media. Users alleged the private messages came from Durant. The posts included sharp criticism of several NBA figures, including former teammate Russell Westbrook.
One message read, “That pic disproved it tho that’s the point lol. I wouldn’t say Kai was competing wit me, but that lightskin and that triple double cocaine bear was.” The comment appeared to reference Westbrook while defending Kyrie Irving.
Westbrook’s 2016-17 season remains historic. He averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists while recording 42 triple-doubles.
Messages Also Mention Booker, Suns
The leaked screenshots did not stop there.
Another alleged message referenced Devin Booker and former Suns coach Frank Vogel in extreme terms, calling them “Two dictators [Devin Booker and Frank Vogel], Stalin and hitler. Mussolini and Kim jong un.”
A separate line read, “The Suns are my team when we lose and Books team when we win.”
The screenshots also criticized Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr., questioning their shooting, defense and overall reliability.
No verified source has confirmed that Durant operates the account. Still, the situation reopened a familiar chapter. In 2017, Durant admitted to using burner accounts after he accidentally responded to a critic from his verified profile while speaking in the third person about his departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors.
All-Star Stat Line Adds Context
As the alleged messages circulated, Durant’s body language drew attention.
Fan accounts shared multiple clips showing him frequently checking his phone throughout the night. Even while seated in warmups, he appeared locked into the screen. The contrast stood out during an exhibition built on smiles and celebration.
Durant finished with 12 total points across three All-Star contests, shooting 5-of-15 in 28 minutes. For a player of his stature, it marked a quieter showing.
There has been no official confirmation tying Durant to the leaked messages. The authenticity of the screenshots remains unverified.
Given his history of already being caught having a burner, even if these messages weren’t from him, it would really hard for him to dispel that he didn’t say these things. All signs point towards being caught, and that could be bad news for him and his current teammates, plus his past teammates.
