The big rumor going around the NBA at the moment is surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. After yet another Round 1 exit, there are rumors swirling that Antetokounmpo is going to request a trade out of Milwaukee, where he has spent his entire 12-year career.
The Greek Freak is coming off a season where he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while leading the Bucks to the No. 5 seed in the East, but it was Milwaukee’s third-straight first-round exit as injuries have taken their toll. Antetokounmpo missed the 2024 playoffs while Damian Lillard only played two games in the 2025 playoffs.
Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George gave his take on Antetokounmpo and the Bucks on the latest episode of “Podcast P with Paul George”:
I think Giannis Antetokounmpo is that older era cut. I think he wants to stay in Milwaukee his whole career. I don’t see him wanting to leave. You see that more so with international guys. They kind of stay where they were drafted for the most part—especially, I mean, they come from a different world. You come to America, you get treated like royalty—king—all of that. Like, (expletive) this took care of my family. This is home and I won here. So, it’s a legacy thing, I think, with Giannis in Milwaukee. Yeah, I don’t think he wants to leave there.
It will be a bit surprising to see Antetokounmpo request a trade out of Milwaukee. As George mentioned, he has made a home there and is one of the best–if not the best–players in the history of the franchise. One has to believe there will be a statue of Antetokounmpo in a Bucks jersey at some point outside of the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
