WASHINGTON (7News) — The Washington Wizards have landed another marquee name for their rebuild, acquiring 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis as part of a blockbuster eight-player trade with the Dallas Mavericks, according to an ESPN report.

Davis becomes the latest high-profile addition for Washington, which also received Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum in the deal, according to the report.

The move signals a continued aggressive approach by the Wizards as they reshape their roster around established veteran talent while maintaining future draft flexibility.

Dallas, meanwhile, will receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, along with two first-round picks and three second-rounders.

For Washington, the acquisition of Davis marks the second major star trade of the season. Last month, the Wizards acquired Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, though Young has yet to suit up due to lingering knee and quadriceps injuries.

Like Young, Davis arrives with elite credentials but health questions, as he has been sidelined since early January with a hand injury.

Despite the injury, Davis has been productive when on the floor, averaging 20.1 points and 11.1 rebounds in 20 games this season. At 32, he brings championship experience and defensive impact to a Wizards team focused on accelerating its rebuild and raising its competitive ceiling.

The move caps months of speculation surrounding Davis’ future in Dallas.

The Mavericks began exploring trade options for the veteran big man after the firing of former general manager Nico Harrison in early November, a decision influenced in part by fan backlash stemming from last year’s blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doni to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package centered on Davis.

Now, Davis’ next chapter begins in Washington, where the Wizards continue to bet big on star power as they chart a new direction for the franchise.
