The Miami Heat have had a disappointing season to their standards, sitting eighth in the Eastern Conference after the All-Star break with a 29-27 record.

That said, the Heat did have one representative in the All-Star Game this season, as Norman Powell made his first career appearance in his first season with Miami.

Averaging a career-high 23 points per game in his 11th year in the league, Powell got the nod over notable players like Brandon Ingram of the Toronto Raptors and Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets.

Recently, Powell spoke to the media about his All-Star break, soaking in the experience.

“Experience was amazing, no complaints,” said Powell after his debut. “Being able to participate in a full weekend for the first time, the Three-Point contest and the All-Star Game. Just enjoying and creating memories with all the guys that I’ve gone up against and competed with and looked up to before I even made it to the NBA. So it’s an A-plus weekend for me.”

Powell got to square off against Kawhi Leonard, a teammate that he won a championship with as a member of the Toronto Raptors. The two also played together with the Clippers as well.

As far as teammates are concerned, playing for Team World, Powell was able to suit up with another former Raptors teammate once again, Pascal Siakam.

To add on to the irony, the festivities were held at the Intuit Dome, Powell’s latest home court before an offseason trade sent him to Miami last summer.

At 32-years-old, Powell’s chances to earn another All-Star appearance in the future may be in doubt.

Either way, Powell experienced a weekend that he’ll never forget.
