It was a disappointing week in Chicago as the Bulls lost another game to extend their six-game losing streak. Abroad, Chicago fans had the chance to cheer on Chicago area Olympians competing in the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

Team USA’s Women’s Ice Hockey team has been dominating in the Olympics, with the 23-player team including four Chicago-area stars — captain and forward Hilary Knight, forward Kendall Coyne Schofield, forward Abbey Murphy and forward Tessa Janecke.

Knight recently tied for the most career points in U.S. Olympic History with 32, in the team’s game Feb. 10, where they beat Canada 5-0.

Coyne Schofield scored twice in their 6-0 win against Italy Feb. 13 to bring Team USA to the quarterfinal round. She also scored in their most recent game against Sweden, which pushed them to the finals for the Gold Medal.

These players have all done their part to keep Team USA’s six-game winning streak alive, bringing the team to the finals, where they’ll play in the Gold Medal game against the winner of Canada and Switzerland Feb. 19.

Chicago’s Olympic Ski Jumper Kevin Bickner ranked 20th in the Men’s Large Hill Individual Feb. 14.

Chicago’s Ethan Cepuran and Emery Lehman of the Speed Skating Men’s Team Pursuit competed Feb. 15 and advanced to the race against Italy for the Gold Medal. They placed second in that Feb. 17 race, earning the Silver Medal. Chicago’s Sarah Warren ranked 28th in the Women’s 500m Speed Skating.

Chicago’s Danny O’Shea competed with Colorado’s Ellie Kam in the Pair Skating Team Event and the Pair Skating Free Skating, where they placed fourth and 10th, respectively. Overall, in Figure Skating Team Events, the United States is placed first.

Cam Smith will be the next U.S. Olympian competing in Ski Mountaineering Feb. 19.

Thinking about how these players’ careers developed right around us in the windy city makes their Olympic success even more awe inspiring.

The Bulls traveled to TD Garden Feb. 11 to play against the Boston Celtics where they lost their sixth straight game with a score of 124-105.

The Bulls lost three out of four quarters and tied one of them, but fought to stay in the game. In the first quarter, they kept the score close until the last two minutes, where the Celtics scored seven consecutive points and pulled ahead 36-27.

The Celtics gained their biggest lead at the end of the first half, scoring 36 points in the second quarter while the Bulls only scored 17.

The Bulls and the Celtics each scored 26 points in the third quarter, the Bulls still finishing down by almost 30 points with a score of 98-70.

By the third minute of the fourth quarter, the Celtics held a 33 point lead over the Bulls and won the game on a 19-point run.

Celtics’ guards Payton Prichard and Jaylen Brown scored 26 and 24 points, respectively, to support the Celtics’ win. Bulls’ guard Rob Dillingham scored 16 points.

Bulls’ guard Josh Giddey has been out since Jan. 28, guard Tre Jones has been out since Jan. 22 and forward Isaac Okoro injured his knee Wednesday. The team has been decimated over the course of their losing streak.

The Bulls will be back at home Feb. 19 against the Toronto Raptors. The Blackhawks are still on break until Feb. 26, when the Olympics have concluded.
