Visually, the adidas Believe That 1 is a departure from the two Anthony Edwards designs that’ve overtaken the world of hoops footwear. Yet, its shape resembles that of the AE 1 Low, as well as some of the Three Stripes’ other basketball shoes. Netizens have already taken to social media to comment on the five cut-outs on the profiles as they differ from adidas’ iconic 3-Stripes branding. It’s possible the detail was landed upon as a callback to Edwards’ jersey number (5), which recently inspired a Y-3 collection also starring Zinedine Zidane and Jude Bellingham.
As a budget-friendly basketball shoe, the Believe That 1 replaces some of the AE 2’s premier materials with less expensive ones that still provide formidable performance. LIGHTSTRIKE and LightBOOST cushioning from the top-of-the-line models make way for DREAMSTRIKE, a soft, but durable foam that debuted on some of adidas’ award-winning running sneakers. The rubber compound found across the outsole offers reliable traction for indoor courts, but isn’t meant for harsher outdoor grounds. A textile upper combines with synthetic materials for a protective, breathable, and flexible experience, enabling athletes of all ages to leave their marks on the court.
Enjoy detailed shots of inaugural Believe That 1 styles ahead. Pairs are expected to hit adidas.com before July. Pricing for Adult sizing should be $100, whereas Kids’ pairs should be priced at $80.
