Looking ahead to the upcoming NBA offseason, there may be a lot of movement involving star players around the league. Oftentimes, we see a continuation of rumors that rose up from the trade deadline, and this could easily take place again.
One of the bigger-named players that may be on the move this offseason could be All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings. Sabonis was discussed in different trade deals at the deadline, but Sacramento held off on pulling the trigger, at least for now.
But with the Kings seemingly heading toward a rebuild, we could see Sabonis ask out of the organization. The evteran was already skeptical of the organization after they traded away star guard De’Aaron Fox last year to the San Antonio Spurs.
And now, after a putrid season, a trade of the star seems to be much more likely. If Sabonis is placed on the trade block, there would be multiple teams trying to land his services.
Sacramento could net a strong trade return for the big man, helping to set itself up for the future. Sabonis dealt with some injuries this season, but when healthy, he remains a very effective player out on the court.
Domantas Sabonis 2025-26 Stats
Sabonis only played in 19 games this season, averaging 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. Sabonis also only shot 18.5 percent from beyond the three-point line, which was a far cry from his normal percentage.
The veteran big is a career 34.2 percent shooter from the three-point line.
Domantas Sabonis Contract
Sabonis will be heading into the third year of a four-year, $186 million contract that he signed with the Kings a few years ago. The All-Star is scheduled to make $45.5 million next season, and then $48.6 million in the final year of the deal.

Toronto Raptors
The Raptors were reportedly the most aggressive in trying to land Sabonis before the trade deadline, and this could see them go after him again. Toronto wants to add more strength to its roster, and Savonos may be the missing piece to the puzzle.
With multiple assets to offer to the Kings, the Raptors seem to be the frontrunners for the All-Star if they still want him. This could be a big summer for Toronto, and Sabonis could be the big prize.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State previously had shown interest in Sabonis, and the two sides could revisit talks again over the summer. The Warriors may be able to entice the Kings with the expiring contract of Jimmy Butler, giving them a ton of cap space for the 2027 offseason.
Sabonis could be a solid addition next to Steph Curry and Draymond Green, and the Warriors could finally fix their center issues. With Golden State wanting to go after another title while Curry is on the roster, there may not be too many other options for this franchise to consider.
Orlando Magic
The Magic may be looking to make more changes to the roster this offseason. While their fate this year is yet to be sealed, this team has underperformed to this point in the season.
Adding a big man like Sabonis could offer Orlando both floor spacing and more star power, giving them a better chance to compete in the East. The combination of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner is good, but they may need a little more to help boost them into title contention status, which is where a player like Sabonis could come in.
