WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The UNCW men’s basketball team defeated Monmouth 79-69 Thursday night at Trask Coliseum to improve to 23-4 on the season.
Christian May contributed 10 points for the Seahawks, including a slam dunk. Madison Derr also scored 10 points and found gaps in the Monmouth defense throughout the game.
Jonathan Lamothe assisted Noah Ross on a drive that gave the Hawks the lead during the contest. Derr later drove and dished to Nolan Hodge, who converted the basket.
UNCW created multiple opportunities for easy scoring chances. Hodge stopped and drained a three-pointer, then followed with a slam dunk on the next possession as the Seahawks pulled away from Monmouth.
The Seahawks will travel to Campbell on Saturday as they look to extend their winning streak.
