The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. This will be the first matchup of the season between the two squads.

The Thunder (42-14) continue to navigate life without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He will miss at least one more week with an abdominal strain. Last time, OKC limped to the NBA All-Star break with a 110-93 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Nets (15-39) were on the wrong side of a 112-84 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. Michael Porter Jr. had a quiet 14 points and five rebounds on the front-end of their road back-to-back.

End 3Q: Thunder 77, Nets 67

The Thunder looked a little lackadaisical in the third quarter but remain ahead by double-digit points. Will be interesting to see if the defensive effort can ramp back up. Feels like that’s the side of the ball they’ll have to rely on to get this much-needed win.

Little bit of a run here by the Nets. Demin intercepts the pass and Wolf gets the easy dunk. Thunder call a timeout.

Half: Thunder 50, Nets 33

What a second quarter. You saw Daigneault spend most of it berating the referees over Wallace getting pushed from the back not being reviewed for a flagrant. You also saw Williams get dragged down by the neck by Mann. In total, the Thunder won the frame 29-10. Brooklyn was stuck at three points for six minutes. Unreal defense.

End 1Q: Nets 23, Thunder 21

Joe catches the miss and swishes in the floater, but it doesn’t count as the buzzer sounded beforehand. Brutal. It was that type of opening quarter for the Thunder. They’re shooting an ugly 27% from the field. Offense will continue to be difficult with who’s out.

Starting lineups

The Thunder will start Cason Wallace, Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. The Nets will start Egor Demin, Nolan Traore, Michael Porter Jr., Noah Clowney and Day’Ron Sharpe.
