The Oklahoma City Thunder are back on the floor following the All-Star break but key reinforcements are still on the way.

Oklahoma City resumed practice Thursday sitting 42-14, good for the top spot in the Western Conference entering the final third of the season.

Thunder injury report

Per Thunder PR, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal strain) and Ajay Mitchell (abdominal strain/left ankle sprain) will be re-evaluated in about one week, while Jalen Williams (right hamstring strain) will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.

The injuries leave Oklahoma City relying on its depth early in the post-break slate.

Holmgren ready for bigger role

Fresh off his first All-Star Weekend, Chet Holmgren said he appreciated the experience but quickly shifted focus back to the team.

“I feel like everybody is kind of fresh,” Holmgren said. “It’s definitely a warm welcome when you get a little break and then come back.”

Holmgren will likely remain a focal point while the Thunder await the return of their All-NBA guard and versatile wing.

Daigneault pleased with response

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said the team returned energized despite the injury challenges.

“Guys came back today energized and refreshed… we’re ready to go here,” he said.

He stressed that Oklahoma City must keep improving regardless of availability.

“You can’t wait around… it’s been hard to find a team rhythm, but I think we’ve accomplished some things.”

What’s ahead

Friday begins a critical stretch for Oklahoma City, with several strong Eastern Conference opponents looming after the Nets matchup.

Brooklyn enters the game struggling, having dropped 12 of its last 15 contests.
