Warriors vs. Nuggets: The matchup

The Nuggets go into Sunday as 4.5-point road betting favorites after making franchise history in scoring in a 157-103 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. That scoring total was the most Denver has scored on the road in franchise history, fueling a bounceback effort after falling in LA to the Clippers (115-114) in the team’s first game since the NBA All-Star Break. Nikola Jokic led a cast of seven players in double figures against Portland with 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the Nuggets improved to 36-21 overall and 21-10 on the road.

The Warriors’ struggles continued as they opened the second half of their season on Thursday with a 121-110 home loss to the Boston Celtics. Playing without injured superstar Stephen Curry for the sixth straight game and with no timeline for his return, Golden State fell to 2-5 over its seven most recent games with that loss and 29-27 on the season. The Warriors did get good news as recent trade acquisition Kristaps Porzingis made his team debut against the Celtics and contributed 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
