Something has to give on Monday night when the San Antonio Spurs (+1.5, -110) take their eight-game winning streak on the road to the Motor City to battle the No. 1-seeded Detroit Pistons (-1.5, -110), who’ve won five in a row and lost just three times since Jan. 15.

Here’s an expert pick and player prop for this matchup at Little Caesars Arena on February 23, 2026, including an OVER (-122) on a scoring prop (10.5 points) for a rookie backup.

Spurs vs. Pistons Expert Pick TonightSan Antonio Spurs ML (+102)

This wager isn’t necessarily a reflection of being overly confident in the Spurs to prevail, but more so trying to find the greater value between two teams that are so evenly matched on paper. Detroit took both meetings in 2024-25 by 15 points or more, but Victor Wembanyama (O23.5 points, -118) didn’t participate in either, and both De’Aaron Fox (O16.5 points, -114) and Cade Cunningham (O27.5 points, -110) weren’t available both times. The injury reports appear clean as of Monday morning, which makes an end result even more difficult to predict when looking at the numbers. Over the last eight games, San Antonio (123.1 points per 100 possessions, 2nd; 106.7 points allowed per 100 possessions, 4th) and the Pistons (122.5 points per 100 possessions, 3rd; 104 points allowed per 100 possessions, 2nd) are the only two teams to rank in the top four both offensively and defensively. Of the Spurs’ eight wins in a row, only one wasn’t successfully covered, and that was as 18.5-point favorites in what was still a 17-point beatdown of the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Detroit has also covered all five of its recent victories, as well, two of which came as a betting underdog when Jalen Duren (O17.5 points, -108) and Isaiah Stewart were serving suspensions.

This is far and away the marquee matchup of Monday’s slate, and one that can be easily described as a coin flip. Perhaps a Feb. 5 home loss to a Washington Wizards squad actively trying to lose games for draft positioning still lingers, demonstrating vulnerability for a Pistons team that’s still comfortably atop the Eastern Conference with a 5.5-game lead over the Boston Celtics. San Antonio is three games back of the Oklahoma City Thunder for home-court advantage throughout the West bracket, so there’s perhaps a touch more incentive to keep this winning streak alive. It’s the start of a five-game road trip versus competition from the East, as well, so beating a potential Finals opponent would be the ideal kickoff point. Only two games for the Spurs this season have been decided by one point, so the moneyline is the obvious play here for greater returns should you be siding with the road team.

Spurs vs. Pistons Prop Tonight Dylan Harper OVER 10.5 Points (-122 at DraftKings)

No one on the Spurs is averaging more than 30 minutes of playing time during this eight-game winning streak, with Dylan Harper’s 25 minutes per contest ranking fourth on the roster. He’s averaged 9.3 shot attempts, converting at a 58.5 percent clip for 13.3 points. This has resulted in five-straight OVERs for Monday’s scoring prop of 10.5 points, as well as eight in the last nine outings for the 19-year-old reserve guard. The consistency with which this prop is connecting, even against the stout defense of the Pistons, makes me want to take a flier here.
