The Brooklyn Nets head into the 2025 NBA Draft with four picks in the first round, giving them the opportunity to bring in plenty of young talent from this class. Brooklyn is reportedly considered to be one of the teams that are exploring chances to move up in the Draft, but it appears to be unlikely that they will be able to get all the way to the second overall pick.

“Unlikely. Matter of fact, I might even go highly unlikely. That’s from multiple sources,” Brian Lewis of the New York Post said of Brooklyn trading up to the second overall pick to take Rutgers guard Dylan Harper during a segment for New York Post Sports. With Brooklyn ending up with the eighth pick in the Draft, there has been speculation over whether the Nets will move up for a better pick or acquire another pick in the Lottery as Lewis reported on Tuesday.

“Listen, you never say never,” Lewis continued. “But, I think that’s something that I wouldn’t count on seeing happening. Trading up? Maybe. I’m sure they’d love to have Dylan Harper, but the odds of him landing here in Brooklyn (are) not very good.”

In almost mock draft, it seems like Duke forward Cooper Flagg will be going to the Dallas Mavericks with the first overall pick, assuming that they don’t trade out of the selection, leaving Harper to be the favorite as the next player to come off the board. The San Antonio Spurs have the No. 2 pick and while there is reporting that suggests that the Spurs will be open to offers for the pick, it also appears like San Antonio is sold enough on Harper to use the pick to draft him.

If the Nets are indeed interested in trying to move up in the Draft, it looks like the most-likely team that would be willing to trade out of their pick would be the Philadelphia 76ers with the third overall pick. Granted, the 76ers have needs to fill on the roster so they could use the pick as well, but if the team is interested in veterans, Brooklyn may be able to help Philadelphia with that goal in exchange for the No. 3 pick.
