Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green corroborated Anthony Edwards’ criticism of the Memphis hospitality industry by saying that the Dubs also had an unfortunate incident involving one of the hotels in that city during one of their trips there.
Green, however, said his experience happened many years ago. Still, Edwards’ revelation only proves that Memphis does not have the best hotel service in the United States and that the problem has been ongoing for a long time.

“We had an issue there where we used to stay at one hotel in Memphis, and this dates back. We stopped staying there because their sprinklers just went off for no reason in the room, and like drenched all of Andrew Bogut’s stuff. Like the sprinkler system, it was like a fire just went off. Drenched all of Bogut’s stuff, and they didn’t want to do anything about it. So, we switched hotels then, right? So, it’s been an issue,” said Green on his podcast.
Green’s experience is at least seven years old
In Draymond’s 14 seasons in the NBA, the Warriors have played the Grizzlies four times per year in six campaigns, meaning Green had six years in the league where the Dubs traveled to Memphis twice, and so he’s seen more hotels in that part of the United States, hence he knows what he is talking about.

Meanwhile, Bogut and Green arrived together in Golden State in 2012, and the Aussie played for the Dubs until the 2015-16 campaign. He also returned to “The Bay” for a second tour of duty in 2018-19, so what Dray is talking about is at least seven years old already, and a lot has changed since then, which he also admitted.
“It’s been an issue. It’s gotten a little better, I must say. But it’s still not (like) the other cities. So we’ll see what happens in Memphis with the hotels,” Green added.
Ant claims Memphis has the dirtiest hotel rooms he’s ever seen
It can be recalled that during his recent appearance on “Sundae Conversations” with Caleb Pressley, the Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard revealed that the rooms at Memphis hotels are the dirtiest he’s ever slept in.

“Especially when we go to Memphis,”said Edwards. “I be like, ‘Damn, my hotel ain’t nothin’ in Memphis.’ That s— be dirty. I walked into a Memphis hotel one time and had stains and s— on the bed.”
Edwards didn’t really sound too serious when he said what he said to Pressley in the podcast. And you might argue that Draymond is just piggybacking on Ant’s story so he can get additional content for his podcast. But in fairness to the two NBA stars, a study published on the Yahoo website a couple of years ago listed the Top U.S. cities with the worst hotels, and Memphis came in tied for No.6 overall, which says a lot.
Curiously, the Warriors will visit Memphis on February 25th, so it will be interesting to see how the fans will react to Draymond. Luckily for Ant, the Wolves no longer have a game in Memphis this year.
