Warriors star Steph Curry continues to be an inspirational figure, even as he’s continuing to get back on the court with right patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Despite missing Golden State’s last seven games, Curry still is making his presence felt on the sidelines, especially with the team’s younger players who have stepped up in his absence.

Warriors forward Gui Santos shared his own experiences having a future Hall-of-Fame player mentor him and his teammates.

“Just to have Steph on the [sideline], it’s great because, over everything, for a lot of us who are way younger than him, we grew up watching him [play],” Santos said Monday on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” show.

“You have a guy like him, [who] was a four-time NBA champion already. A lot of NBA All-Star appearances. He was a champion. He was a two-time MVP.

“All that and you have him right there with you, just cheering for you and just talking to you, giving you some advice for some type of plays on offense or defense. Yesterday, I saw [Brandin Podziemski] saying to me that [Curry] was talking to [Podziemski] to take the shots with confidence and be aggressive.”

Throughout Curry’s absence, young players such as Santos and Podziemski admirably have stepped up.

In February, Santos is averaging 15.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from 3-point range. According to Santos, Curry’s energy from the bench tremendously has helped him and the team.

“When you have a guy like [Curry], a guy who all he does is cheer for you and [support] the team, it’s great,” Santos added. “Something great is gonna happen because of that. So, it’s always good to have a guy like Steph on the [sideline] for supporting us in these games.”

Curry is expected to miss at least three more games due to his knee injury, but once he is able to return to the court, expect the 12-time All-Star to continue inspiring this Warriors team that is pushing to earn a playoff spot even more.
