LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women’s basketball is hosting Lehigh in Sojka Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. as a part of its two-game homestand to end the regular season. The Bison currently sit tied for sixth with Lafayette in the Patriot League standings with just two games left to play before the conference tournament.
Bucknell leads the series with Lehigh 52-51, but the Mountain Hawks are currently on a three-game winning streak over the Bison. Earlier this season Lehigh dominated Bucknell in a 74-43 win in Bethlehem. This will be the 104th meeting between the two teams since they first faced off in 1977.

Bucknell women’s basketball is entering its seventh season under head coach Trevor Woodruff. Woodruff was named Patriot League Coach of the Year in his first two seasons.
In addition to Woodruff and returning assistant coaches Edward Joyner Jr. and Shelby Case, the Bison had two new additions to their coaching staff in the off-season. Lauren Holden joined the Bison as the associate head coach and Danielle Patterson joined Bucknell as an assistant coach.
Lehigh at a Glance
The Mountain Hawks come into the game 15- 11 overall and 11-4 in the Patriot League after defeating Boston U.
Lehigh’s four league losses came at the hands of Lafayette, Colgate, Army and Boston U.
In their last time out, the Mountain Hawks defeated the Terriers of Boston University 76-61 Saturday afternoon. In the win, Lehigh knocked down 13 3-pointers, one shy of its season high of 14, which it has reached twice this year. The 13 made 3s came on 28 attempts, good for just over 46%. They had four players score in double figures in the win. Lily Fandre led the way with 22 points, knocking down 4-of-6 from 3-point range. It marked the 11th time this season Fandre has scored 20 or more points.
Fandre leads the team in points per game with 16.4.
Leia Edwards leads Lehigh in rebounds per game with 7.7.
Gracyn Lovette leads the team in assists per game with 3.5.
Belle Bramer leads the Mountain Hawks in steals per game with 1.5.
Lehigh ranks 29th in free-throw percentage (76.9).
Bucknell’s Last Time Out
Holy Cross (18-9, 12-4 PL) held momentum for most of the game as it defeated Bucknell (10-17, 6-10) 63-41 in Hart Center Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders came out to a seven-point first half lead and used a 12-0 scoring run in the third quarter to solidify the home win.
The first quarter opened in Bucknell’s favor with a 4-0 lead midway through, but Holy Cross sported a 7-0 run to end the first quarter up by seven. The second quarter went back and forth with each team notching 14 points. Bucknell struggled with picking up fouls which led to 11 of Holy Cross’s 14 coming off of free-throw opportunities. The third quarter went all Holy Cross as the Crusaders out-scored the Bison 21-6 to extend their lead to 22. The fourth quarter went even 13-13 in scoring, which wouldn’t be enough for the Bison to comeback.
In the loss, the Bison sported all-around scoring with eight of its ten players that got on the court, notching points. Reese Zemitis led the team in scoring with nine and Mariah Hardy and Kaila Richards followed closely behind with seven each. Isabella Casey finished five, Coskun and Ashton each notched four, Anna Kunzwiler had three and Ella Kreuzer rounded out the group with two.
Holy Cross out-shot Bucknell in the field as the Crusaders shot 43.1 percent to the Bison’s 37.8 percent. Holy Cross had a solid free-throw day as it went 12-of-13 overall. Bucknell saw less free-throw opportunities and success as it went 3-of-7 in the category. The Crusaders out-shot the Bison from three as well as they went 7-of-18 from three compared to Bucknell’s 4-of-17.
While both teams struggled with turnovers throughout the game, the Bison recorded 16 to the Crusaders 12 and Holy Cross recorded 10 steals to Bucknell’s 7. While both teams had several turnovers, the Crusaders capitalized on them more as they found 19 points off turnovers compared to the Bison’s 10. Holy Cross out-rebounded Bucknell 35-25.
It was a chippy contest with 28 total fouls, Bucknell being responsible for 16 in the game with a majority of those coming in the second quarter.
