Joe Johnson gives his take on a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo to San Antonio Spurs trade.
The San Antonio Spurs currently have one of the brightest futures in the NBA. After all, they have back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners in Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.
But that’s not all: the Spurs have also landed the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Now, they are at a crossroads with what to do with their second overall pick.
On one hand, they could draft someone like Dylan Harper to build an impressive young core. However, they also have the option to part ways with that pick along with a few other assets to potentially land someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo.

With Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks expected to part ways in the offseason, a plethora of teams have shown interest in the 2x NBA MVP.
However, many believe that the Spurs landing someone of Antetokounmpo’s caliber would be unfair to the rest of the league. 7x NBA All-Star Joe Johnson, on the other hand, has a different take on it.
“Life ain’t fair, you put them on a team you going to be number one defense for sure. “You got Fox you probably got to get off Castle… they going to want someone who will pack a punch,” Johnson said.
He added: “Giannis is worth it. If he plays with some other great talent he will be more of a willing passer. He’s a cheat code for sure.”
While Johnson justified this hypothetical move, his co-host Chad Ochocinco was against it.
“Hell no, that ain’t fair,” he said.
Ice Cube on Giannis’ situation
Even though the Bucks have faced three straight first-round playoff exits, if someone of Antetokounmpo’s caliber leaves the team that drafted him, there’s a definite chance he’ll face flak from fans.
However, popular rapper Ice Cube believes Antetokounmpo’s legacy is safe regardless of what he decides to do during the offseason.
“If he bounces and wins one championship, I don’t think that can hurt his legacy,” Cube stated.
But what if Antetokounmpo ignores the noise and stays in Milwaukee? Well, in that case, Cube believes the Greek Freak’s legacy will be bigger when it’s all said and done.
