The Brooklyn Nets have been having a rough time since returning from the All-Star break as they have lost the four games they’ve played since the unofficial second half of this season began. Brooklyn has one more game to play at home before going on the road and the Nets could finally put a guy on the floor that the team acquired prior to the trade deadline.

The Nets announced on Wednesday that forward Josh Minott, whom Brooklyn acquired from the Boston Celtics via trade prior to the deadline, is questionable for Thursday’s game against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The reason that Minott is questionable is not due to an injury, but because the team could be evaluating the rest of the roster to see if Minott can be pulled away from his G League assignment.

Minott, 23, has been spending the majority of his tenure with the Nets with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League afiliate, partially due to the fact that Brooklyn has a fairly-deep rotation when healthy. To that point, Minott has been playing solid ball for Long Island as he’s averaging 13.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 36.4% from the field and 43.8% from three-point land.

Even if Minott is available for Thursday’s game against the Spurs, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll see the floor for the Nets. For example, guard Ochai Agbaji, whom Brooklyn acquired from the Toronto Raptors via trade prior to the deadline, did not play in the first three games he was eligible to play in, but he has played at least 10 minutes in each of the last five games.

The good news for the Nets is that the injury report is essentially clean, which is notable considering that forward Michael Porter Jr. and center Nic Claxton are dealing with their own bruises at the moment. Assuming that the injury report doesn’t change prior to Thursday’s tip-off against San Antonio, Minott may have to wait with bated breath to see if he’ll make his debut for the Nets.
